Making a PSA? Suit Up and Direct Like a Legend

How are you MacLaren's ELT-Pub regulars? Did you miss me? No need to worry because daddy is home to tell you the story of creating a public service announcement. We created this project for the task of digital storytelling. Since my bros and I were way too creative to stick to a fictional story, we were about to exceed the time limit. So instead of showing off our god-like talents, we chose to play it smart and went for a public service announcement. Simpler, elegant, and totally something a wise legend would do. We narrowed it down to Türkiye, based on a legendary rule: wasting bread = betraying a bro. Same sin, same shame.
-No bro code violation goes unnoticed.
We did a lot of research about it. After data collection and creating a plan for how to design it, we started to edit video and took voice records. CapCut is our choice for editing the program.
What I can say about the digital story task is that although the fictional story part was exciting, 2 minutes did not feel quite enough. Making a public service announcement was a bit boring, to be honest, compared to the assignments I have done so far, it can even be said that this was the most boring one. I understand the time limit since there are a lot of students, but I have to admit that the 2-minute limit killed creativity a bit. I am not sure if I would want my students to make public service announcements in the future? I find different tasks more useful for English or developing any digital skills. Podcast was definitely a much better choice.
